Ali Taylor is a screenwriter and mum of three who lives in Glasgow. She is a regular writer on River City (for which she was nominated Best Debut Writer at the Edinburgh Television Awards 2020), as well as The Dumping Ground, for which she has written four episodes. Her first short Just Jackie is now in production thanks to funding from Short Circuit, Screen Scotland and BFI and she has a second in development. She is particularly interested in writing drama about Parent/Child relationships and all their messy glory and has almost completed training to be a Children’s Panel Member.

Previously, she has been selected for the inaugural Scottish Voices BBC Writersroom (2018), Bird’s Eye UK’s/ Dirty Film’s Writers Lab UK & Ireland for women writers over forty (2020) and the Young Film Foundation (2019) where she was personally mentored by Beth Willis. She has been twice shortlisted for BBC Writersroom’s Writer’s Prize for Drama.
Prior to screenwriting, Ali was a copywriter and creative director in advertising where she won national and international awards in almost every medium.
